Bharatapur’s Rising Solar Star: Farmer’s Success Story

Mr Kamal Meena, a beneficiary of the government-initiated scheme - ‘Kusum Yojana’, applied for and installed KISAN SOLAR’s Universal Solar Pump Controller at his farm in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, about two years ago. Since then, he has seen manifold transformative changes in his everyday routine activities at his farm. The USPC works well with solar energy, providing assured uninterrupted energy that is free, sustainable, and a suitable replacement versus the various sources of expensive energy utilized earlier, such as coal and diesel.

Before the installation of the USPC Technology, the main issue in his farmland/village / Gramin Area was that there was limited electricity provision, and that too with no timelines and hour-coordination of when the power would be supplied. Additionally, the constant problem of fluctuations did not allow heavy machinery load to function at total capacity. Due to this, the working labour’s time, productivity, and energy were delayed and wasted. Also, with the limited hours of supplied power, multiple farm equipment could not be used.

However, after installing the USPC Technology, electricity/power is always available to him, reducing his dependency on external government-provided electricity or power obtained using costly and depleting Fossil Fuels. The USPC works by converting solar energy into usable electricity, providing a reliable and sustainable power source. Not only does this save a lot of his time in not waiting for power to be supplied by the grid, but this has also increased his crop production and generated other village-level employment for various farmers. KISAN SOLAR’s USPC mainly focuses on providing Pure Energy. This controller supplies positive point energy to all kinds of output loads (Resistive, Capacitive or Inductive) in Pure Sine Wave format, without any Harmonics / Spikes, providing independent control to the user (Mr Kamal Meena in this case), subsequently reducing his dependency on government-funded erratic electricity. With the installation of this controller, tapping Solar Energy to the fullest, his entire home is now functional, including his 3-phase Water Pump, a 3-phase Chaff Cutter, another 3-phase motor powering his Aataa Chakki, an Oil Processing Machine, his Single-Phase Domestic load including LED Tubelights, Fans, Bulbs, Induction Plate, Computer, Printer, Washing Machine, Refrigerator, an Invertor based Air conditioner, Cooler and other appliances. Moreover, The Universal Solar Pump Controller (USPC) has multiple benefits as it aligns with not just irrigation of the land but also helps in making commercial products, running fertilizers, spraying on crops, making pesticides, preparing wood out of Cow-dung, etc.

Additionally, one of the major advantages of installing the USPC has been the reduction in his monthly electricity bill at his farm. For example, Mr. Meena would initially get a monthly bill of Rs. 3000 – 4000 per month, which after the installation of the USPC controller has come down to as low as Rs. 600 per month. On a larger case of understanding, he is saving almost Rs. 3000 per month, or Rs. 36,000 in a year or approximately Rs. 7,00,000 in 20 Years, till the working life-cycle of his Solar Panels. It has facilitated the creation of a variety of different commercial products for sale such as Organic spices, Oil (Groundnut & Sesame) , diyas, pencil holders, planters, pots etc. Just through the sale of these products (mainly in Delhi and other tier A cities), Mr. Meena is able to make an additional income of Rs. 5 Lakh per quarter. This revolution towards Go Green Go Solar campaign initiated by KISAN SOLAR, through their Global Licensee Holders – TAG SOLAR SYSTEM LLP, has also provided multiple jobs for women living around his farm and close-by villages, who are now actively involved in the production of these commercial products, making them financially strong and independent, resulting in a significant step towards Women Empowerment. This aspect of the story is particularly inspiring, as it shows how sustainable farming cannot only benefit the environment and the economy, but also empower individuals in the community.

Mr. Kamal Meena’s story has been so successful that it was spoken about by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 30th October, 2023 in his episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ who was a beneficiary farmer of the ‘KusumYojana’. He discussed how after the installation of the solar pump not only has Kamal Ji’s large expense has drastically come down with income increased. Just through this he has also been able to provide employment to about 10 – 12 people. The initiative and installation have been so successful that several schools and companies have made educational trips to his farm in Bharatpur. This recognition from the highest office in the country is a testament to the success and impact of Mr. Meena's story, making the audience feel reassured and proud of the progress in sustainable farming and rural development. The recognition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a testament to the impact of Mr. Meena's story, and it should make us all proud of the progress in sustainable farming and rural development.
